Like a dear...

Devotional

As the deer pants for the streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? (Psalm 42:1-2)

Whether in the best of times or in the worst of times, God calls us to pray, as he said, "Pray at all times (see Eph 6:18)". However, in real life we find ourselves praying more fervently, more specifically, in the worst of times. In Psalm 42, we can see that it was during this kind of worst time that David found himself seeking God for the troubles of the present. Have you ever wondered why a deer pants for water? The deer pants because it has been running from danger. Fears and worries, temptations and trials, these are often dangers that keep us on the run. So, run towards God. Stop all activity. Talk with him and read his Word. Prayer is simply talking with God and sharing all of your worries, concerns, and joys with Him. Drink in all you can of his faithfulness, his love, and goodness, his promise of sovereignty over every detail of your life. Be refreshed in his presence.
